How to Prepare for Cannabis Delivery on Long Island

A good delivery experience starts before the driver leaves the store. A few minutes spent checking the live menu, confirming the address, and preparing for the ID check can make a Long Island cannabis delivery feel simple and predictable.

Have the order details and your physical ID ready before the delivery window.

1. Start with the live menu, not an old screenshot

Inventory changes quickly. Before placing an order, open the live Top Grass menu and confirm the product type, size, current price, and availability shown at checkout. If a favorite is gone, choose one backup in the same format so you are not making a last-minute decision at the door.

Use the menu to answer practical questions: Do you want flower, pre-rolls, vapes, carts, edibles, concentrates, or topicals? Is the package size appropriate for your plan? Does the item have the label and testing information you expect from a regulated New York product? The goal is not to fill a cart with every option. It is to place an order you understand.

2. Confirm the delivery address and access details

Use the exact physical address where you will receive the order. Add an apartment, floor, building, or entrance detail when the checkout form allows it. If a lobby, gate, or buzzer makes access complicated, keep your phone close and be ready to respond to a call or message from the delivery team.

New York’s consumer guidance says cannabis deliveries must go to a physical address in New York and may be made to residential properties, short- or long-term residences, or private businesses. Deliveries are not permitted to public spaces, public buildings, school grounds, community centers, houses of worship, or someone inside a motor vehicle. Review the New York OCM delivery FAQ if you are unsure whether an address is appropriate.

3. Keep a valid physical ID within reach

New York adult-use cannabis is for customers age 21 and older. The person who placed the order should be present to receive it and should have a valid, government-issued photo ID available. The Office of Cannabis Management lists examples such as a driver’s license, passport, state-issued identification, IDNYC, or qualifying military identification.

Do not leave the ID in another room, in a locked vehicle, or with someone else. The handoff is a quick identity-and-age verification step, not a reason to feel awkward. Having the physical card ready keeps the interaction efficient and helps the delivery team follow the rules.

4. Make the handoff easy and safe

Choose a well-lit, private handoff point. Keep pets secured, clear the path to the door, and avoid asking the driver to meet you in a car or public area. If the address changes after checkout, contact the store before the order is dispatched rather than improvising at the curb.

When the package arrives, check that the order is addressed to you, the outer package is intact, and the items match your receipt. If anything looks wrong, pause and contact the store for help before opening or using the product.

5. Plan the first five minutes after delivery

Put the package somewhere cool, dry, and secure as soon as the handoff is complete. Keep products in their original packaging until you have read the label and decided on a storage spot away from children and pets. If you are not planning to use an item right away, there is no benefit to leaving it on a counter, in direct sun, or in a hot car.

For more detail, read the Top Grass storage guide and the New York OCM packaging and labeling guidance. Product labels, package instructions, and the current store policy should always take priority over a general blog checklist.

Frequently asked questions

Can someone else receive my cannabis delivery?

New York guidance requires identity and age verification at delivery, and the delivery must be made to the individual detailed in the order. Plan to receive your own order with your valid ID.

Can a delivery meet me in a parking lot?

Do not plan a vehicle or public-space handoff. Use the exact private address entered for the order and follow the current store instructions.

What if an item sells out?

Check the live menu for a backup format or contact Top Grass before dispatch. Inventory, prices, delivery windows, and eligibility can change.
